Trinity English Lutheran Church
Detailed List of Building Addition and Renovations
The proposed site improvement plan will include the following:
- Prominent, attractive and barrier-free entrance from Washington Boulevard, providing a comfortable entrance for members and visitors with covered entry and passenger drop off at the same level of the Nave and first floor
- Designated parking for persons with disabilities and families with small children with safety features for monitoring the parking area and building entrances
- Large gathering space on the first floor with a “Welcome Center”; the second floor gathering space will have a balcony overlooking the first-floor space and the original south Chancel wall with its stained-glass windows
- Access to the east and west sides of the building on both the first and second floors without going through the Nave and greater and more spacious entry to the Nave and Wagenhals Hall
- New four-stop passenger elevator, accessing the Youth Center and all three main levels of the church; barrier-free restrooms on all three levels of the building
- Enhanced lower level and theater entrance with lighting and finishes; some new, renovated, and relocated storage areas
- New enclosed playground and landscaped outside space; re-graded, resurfaced south parking area with new lighting and landscaping, providing about 90 parking spaces
- Vacating the alley, removal of the utility poles, and bringing all of the utilities into the building underground; improved signage for Trinity along Washington, Ewing, and Fairfield streets
- Construction of rear entrance in a formal, hierarchical order with the existing building and spire that will maintain the church’s Gothic design, matching materials and window treatments in order to make the addition look as though it has always been a part of the church building
- Renovation and redesigning of the kitchen; relocation of kitchen HVAC
Mechanical Systems
- New geothermal plant with chilled-water/hot-water system and injection wells
- Site storm drains; sanitary lines, drain and plumbing replacements
- Chilled-water/hot water system and injection wells
- Relocation of existing hot-water boilers
- Replacement of variable air volume Heating, Ventilation and Air Condition (HVAC) for Chapel and Music Department
- Humidification for Church air-handling unit and Chapel/Music Department air-handling unit
- New ducted fan coil unit for Narthex
- Return duct, silencer and variable frequency drive for Theater air-handling unit
- New variable air volume air-handling unit for Youth Center, Teaching Conference Center, Fireside Room and Library
- New variable air volume HVAC system for second floor offices
- Add heating coil and variable frequency drive to Wagenhals Hall air-handling unit and remove radiators
Electrical Systems
- Cable tray system for data/phone
- New Lighting and outlets for new addition and renovated spaces
- Thirty kilowatt solar-power system and power for HVAC systems upgrades
